As a business owner, my professional self is always intersecting with my personal self. Having the title of “etiquette coach,” is a lot like being a minister or priest; because, no matter where I am, others hold me to a higher expectation. I have found this to be the case more so in the United States. Living abroad, many people were able to separate the two, but my experience has taught me the importance of the advice given by Laertes to his son Polonius in a Shakespearean play. The advice was as follows: “ To thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.” No matter where you are, be you, because you are unique and there is always someone in this world who desperately needs to meet you.!
